My love of beauty in simplicity is reflected in my tapestries, which are abstract geometric designs accentuating the architecture of weaving.

I find beauty in simplicity. My tapestries are abstract geometric designs which accentuate the architecture of weaving. Each piece is initially inspired by a color scheme, with the design concept usually being an abstraction of my own photographs. My work also has been influenced by tapestries I have seen in my country of birth, Latvia, which has a long history of weaving. Dyeing my own yarn has enabled me to create designs with precisely graded colors. By using the same dyes in various proportions, I also create unity in multi-colored pieces. I use a plain weft faced weave and work from a full scale cartoon. Even though the initial concept is controlled, the process of traveling from paper and skeins of white yarn to the finished object in fiber can hold unexpected turns. This is what makes each tapestry an exciting journey.
